Be a part of the new Summer Set at the MostArts Festival in Alfred, NY. The magic returns at the 4th annual MostArts Festival in Alfred, NY Alfred University is the host for the MostArts Festival, where the brilliance of timeless classical music and art come together for an entirely new experience. World class musicians from across the country come together for Chamber Music and Orchestral performances, along with an international team of concert performers.

This year’s one-day workshops include Master Gardener, Creative Writing, a Children’s Mural Project, Clay Workshops, Plein Air Drawing/Painting, and experiencing the Guzheng (also known as a Chinese Zither usually having 21 strings for picking).

Summer in Allegany County also includes some of the best classical musical performances from around the country at the MostArts Festival in Alfred, NY. The 5th annual MostArts Festival happens at Alfred University the week of July 8th through the 14th. World class musicians from across the country come together for Chamber Music and Orchestral performances, along with an international team of concert performers. The festival also includes several one-day workshops in art for both adults and children.

The highlight of the week-long schedule is perhaps the awarding of the $10,000 Grand Prize in the Young Pianist Competition. It was won last year by Alice Zhang, and she will be performing at the Grand Opening of this year’s festival on Sunday evening, July 8th in the Miller Theater.

While tickets are required for evening performances each day of the festival, there are also “Sound Bite Samplers” held at noon Monday through Friday in the Holmes Auditorium at Harder Hall, which are free and open to the public. Box lunches, coffee, and desert will also be available for purchase.

Our popular "Sound Bites Sampler" offers a taste of the gems of the chamber music repertoire each day at noon, in an informal setting which are free and open to the public.Witness the excitement as eight finalists from the Young Pianist Competition perform in concert with the Festival Orchestra and compete for the grand prize. In addition to amazing Music, there is Art at MostArts. Workshops in creative writing, water color, Master Gardener, clay, even playing the harp! Ceramic workshops, glass blowing demonstrations, art exhibitions, and the new Alfred Ceramic Art Museums will be available for your viewing pleasure.
